Redesigning in my neighborhood

For my last unit in Urban planning, we learned about many things. Things that stuck with me was how to redesign an area or make a city better. For that last project, we did just that. We had to pick somewhere that we wanted to redesign and draw it then create a 3D model. The math we learned about was area and volume so we also had to find the area of our drawing and volume of our 3D scale. We also had to look at different places to get inspiration to create a redesigned area. I picked an empty lot next to two streets. I thought this was the perfect place to add to build a better community by where I live.

The Electricity in our Ohms

For our second unit in Urban planning, we looked at many things like building circuits, was to save energy, how we use energy, etc. For this action project, we had to build a circuit and think of some way to save every by building or thinking of a new invention. This unit we talked to a very nice lady that talked to us about how different things are powered.

Changing the Rent and Mortgage

For my first unit for Policy, our Action Project in this quarantine was to create a letter. We had to write to someone that represented us at any level of government; State, city, etc. This letter had to be a bill that was going to be pass or not so I picked Cancelation of rent and mortgage. I wrote to my representative in the 14th district to tell her what I think about this cancelation by using logos, ethos, and pathos to sell my opinion. While writing this letter while being in quarantine I realized that writing is not as hard as I thought it is. Even though it takes a long time for my thoughts to come out it feels easier than when I wrote when I was back in school. Not being in school still gives me a lot of work to do but helps me find out what I'm good at and what I'm not. Dear Kelly M. Cassidy, Can we convince American people that in this time, when many people don't have enough money for their needs, that they should not have to pay rent or mortgage? The rent...

The Triangles in my Bridge

For my first unit in my class Urban Planning my class and I had to create a bridge out of popsicle sticks and carry a gallon of water on top. While making this we had to think about SDG 11. We also had to find all the angles in my triangle on the bridge. For me, this was a very different action project because of corona and how we have to stay home but I really liked doing everything at home and how we had to build these bridges on our own. I also thought it was cool how our school sent packages full of tools to build these bridges. You can find my whole project down bellow and the process it took to build it.

For my third unit in Light, Sound and Time we focused on Time and how we preserve it. This unit was my favorite out of all three of them because it really made me think about how time affects up day to day. We also learned about planets and how the earth rotates. My class and I went to the planetarium to look and learn about planets and how time is different for each planet. For the last Action Project for our unit time, we had to create a time-telling device for a client. You can read and watch about my time telling device below.

For the second unit of "A Nations Argument" We focused on argument and how people in history used and uses it. We watched many democratic debates to see how they use argument. In class, we watched the movie "13th" and it talked about inequalities in America and focuses on prisons and how people of color, but mostly black people being targetted. We Also looked at documents like the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, And the Bill of Rights including the amendments. For this Action Project, we had to pick a rule in our school's student handbook and amend it. I amended where we can eat in the school because I disagree with what the student handbook says. You can find my second Action Project for "A Nations Argument" down below. The schools rule Eating is allowed in the Cafe and Open Concept room downstairs before school, during lunch, after school, and during breaks. After eating, students must wipe down tables. Refusal to clean up can re...
