Reliable retractable rake
In my class called Design and Engineering we learned a lot about gardening and we went on a couple Field Experiences like Homedepot and the garden in front of our school. While doing this Action Project were learning to collaborate with other people and make our everyday lives easier with gardening tool. This project is about making a tool even better for older people or people that have a disability so it can be easy for them to garden too. In my slideshow, my partner and I worked on the vectors of the rake, the area and surface area of the rake, A storyboard on how to use it a picture of how it looks. Thank you.
The reliable, retractable rake extends and retracts. The rake has two wheels on the sides of the head. The head of the rake opens and closes so that the basket head can close on the stuff you are trying to collect. The rake extends when you press the upper button on the top of the rake and retracts when you press it again. The basket closes when you press the lower bottom which is under the other button. The purpose of the buttons is to help people that are older so they don't have to bend over to rake leaves.
COMPARE
Our tool is an example of innovation and efficiency because it has solutions to problems that older people would deal with when using a regular rake so we added things to the rake to help those people. The first thing we added is a strap to the top of the rake so senior citizens would just have to put the strap around their wrist instead of holding something. We also added a button that extends and retracts the rake so people wouldn't have to reach over. The last thing is a button to close and open the basket head so that you can close the basket on the things you want to clean up.
SIMPLE MACHINE
Our tool is a lever and has a fulcrum. It's a lever because the rake has an Input, output and fulcrum. The top of the rake being the input the basket head as the output and your hand in the middle as the fulcrum
EMPATHY
The purpose of this project is to make tools that can be easily used by everyone not just people are young but older people too. For this project we are making tools better for seniors which makes tools better for everyone because eventually we all become seniors. By doing this were showing EMPATHY which means to understand and sometimes feel the emotions that someone else is feeling. for example, if someone doesn't have a lot of money, you can understand what it feels like.
CONCLUSION
When doing this project I learned how to share the amount of work were given with my partner and who should do what. I also learned that working with someone I don't talk to is better because we would actually got work done. If I did this project again I think I would change the whole idea of the tool because at the end of this project I got a better idea for a rake which would electronically move across the whole garden and it would rake the grass by pressing a button.
