A Piece of The Puzzle

Image
For my last Action Project in one of the most interesting classes I’ve taken at my school called econ, we had to create an eighth chapter or what would have been the eighth chapter to Kate Raworth’s “Doughnut Economics”. Before doing this we read the first two chapters of the book then our class split into five groups to read and present a chapter. After hearing about everyone’s chapters we made our own. In my eighth chapter, I talk about working and retirement because I am very interested in what I am going to do in my years after high school.                                               People do not want to work at a place they are not enjoying and happy. Unhappiness leads to people leaving their jobs to work somewhere they would want to stay and retire. It’s just like a puzzle. The puzzle isn’t complete until you have the pieces in the right place. It wouldn’t mak...

The Coded Bots We Talk To

For my last Action Project in Computer Science, we learned many new techniques in coding which we can use to put into our codes. For this project, we had to be a chatbot and interact with the user by asking questions. Below you will be able to interact with the chatbot I have created to answer questions and introduce yourself.    After finishing this code and correcting the mistakes I made I realized that coding is not as complicated as it seems at first. You have to practice and it gets more simple as you do it. Before doing this code I was not confident in my ability to complete everything on the rubric for the project but after creating a draft and getting feedback from a couple of people I was able to finish off my project strong and I knew exactly what I had to do after. When first starting, I was not interested to make a chatbot but once I knew what I was doing it became fun, and didn't feel like work. I also had a long time to do this code so it didn't feel rush...

Answering The Question That Is Still Not Answered

Image
For my second unit in journalism, we looked into many things including photos from throughout the 20 and 21st century, different techniques on how to take photos, how to analyze a photo with the questions Who, What, Where, When, Why, How, Ect. For our second Action Project for journalism, we had to answer one question, “What is the meaning of life?” To get a better understanding we had to also interview someone and ask them the same question I am answering. Then, we had to take a picture of our interviewee or something of theirs. Before doing my interview I wanted to try to answer the question myself. I have seen many people in different fields and areas of life answer this questions but I never got the answer I was looking for. I believe that there are a couple of answers to this question, and many people would say there is no answer to this question. “Man’s search for meaning is the primary motivation of his life” and “Concern about a meaning of life is the truest expression of...

Risking Value in my Future

The Hidden Codes in our World

For my second unit in my computer science class, we started to work with coding. We started by learning how to print names and then slowly started moving towards more advanced things like trying to print equations. Eventually, we had a test on the basics of computer science and the terms of it as well. I didn’t do as well as I wanted to and I knew we would have a project on coding so I wanted to be prepare. For our second unit Action Project, we had to create two codes. Our first code had to be setting up an advanced calculator where it asks you for a number. For mine code I let people put the weather in Celsius and convert it into Fahrenheit. For the second code, we had to ask the user to insert personal information and write a letting like mad libs which is a game where words are left out so you can add your information. For this, I asked the user to insert their name, age, ward, and then asked them what issue they care about. For these codes I used a coding website called Trinket.io...

The Freshest look on the NBA Bubble

Image
Hello, my name is PA. In my first course as a senior, I am taking a class called Journalism where we learn about different types of journalism and interview techniques. For our Action Project, we decided to step into the role of a journalist. Who knew it would be so different from writing a normal essay. There were a lot of criteria we had to meet like interviews, quotes, a photo, news and information, and a lead. We also had to write with the purpose to perform. Even though it was difficult, it was also exciting to write about a topic I enjoyed. The topic I chose to write about was the NBA bubble while quoting other prospectives. Here is what I wrote below. This past Sunday the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Miami heat. This was the Laker’s 17th championship in their franchise history. This was not a regular finals win; this win will be remembered throughout NBA history. On March 11, 2020, the NBA was put on pause when players started testing positive For COVID-19. This was a trage...

Redesigning in my neighborhood

For my last unit in Urban planning, we learned about many things. Things that stuck with me was how to redesign an area or make a city better. For that last project, we did just that. We had to pick somewhere that we wanted to redesign and draw it then create a 3D model. The math we learned about was area and volume so we also had to find the area of our drawing and volume of our 3D scale. We also had to look at different places to get inspiration to create a redesigned area. I picked an empty lot next to two streets. I thought this was the perfect place to add to build a better community by where I live.
